Fourth of July

Fourth of July started on the 3rd for us...at the parade! We arrived a little late but still found a decent spot. Mackenzie collected candy...
we enjoyed the music...

and waved our flags.
That morning we had blueberry star pancakes. Mackenzie and Logan are showing off their blue faces.

We cooked most of the day. We had salmon, brats, and chicken in the smoker and made macaroni salad and coleslaw. While Logan napped Mackenzie helped me decorate the cake.

She kept singing "Happy Birthday" while she worked. She wanted to know whose birthday it was, I told her "Americas" she just called it her "July cake."
We kept Mackenzie up for fireworks and woke Logan up for them too. We took our box of fireworks to a spot where we could watch the city's fireworks. Logan surprised me by waking up for them (I thought he would just sleep in the car).
Mackenzie was more interested in our little ones and wanted to do it herself. We all enjoyed the firework display and went home. Mackenzie fell asleep in mid sentence and the best part was that we got to sleep in on the 5th.
