Mackenzie had her 3rd birthday party today. We weren't going to have one but a few months ago she started talking about her birthday party and birthday cake, so we had a Princess and Knight Birthday Party!.
I made a castle out of refrigerator boxes. There are two front towers that have tunnels that connect to back towers. The two back towers are supposed to have a tunnel connecting them but I didn't have enough boxes. There is also supposed to be an arch in the front that says "Happy Birthday Mackenzie" but our plan for attaching it didn't work.
I painted it with some paint that we found in the shed when we moved into the house. Apparently the kitchen used to be painted this color, yuck!
The kids have been having fun playing in it for the past few days.
A friend from school makes cakes for her boy's birthdays and one day was complaining about how she doesn't get to every do a girly cake. So I offered her an opportunity to make a girl cake. Mackenzie looked at some pictures and this is the one that she liked.
I also made frogs out of apples, sword bread sticks, peanut butter and jelly crown sandwiches, and pretzel stick wands.
I even decorated the soda.
When the kids arrived that got a sword or a wand and a crown that they could decorate with foam stickers and markers. Then they played in the castle. Mackenzie opened presents.
She was very polite and said thank you to each person after she opened their gift.
We sang Happy Birthday...
Mackenzie was so excited she blew out her candles in the middle of the song.
Then my friends started taking the towers (which were just rice krispies) out...
and some kids started helping and Mackenzie looked horrified for awhile.
After we finished passing out cake I looked down and she had three plates in front of her.
Mmmmmm, yummy!

Mackenzie continued to play in her castle while everyone else napped.
It was a fun party. Later Mackenzie looked and me and said, "Thank you for my castle party Mommy." Tonight while I was talking to Mom she got up and put herself to bed so I call the day a success!
Grandma got her new ballet clothes, lucky for us it was also dance class day! Mackenzie modeled her new outfit for us right after breakfast. (She is showing us "duck feet")
She also showed off her moves for grandma at class.
After lunch we went to Build-a-Bear. Mackenzie picked out a pink bear and Logan picked out a puppy. Mackenzie got to fill the bear with stuffing.
