Egg Hunts and Easter Fun

Saturday we went to a community Easter egg hunt. I chose to talk them to this one because they had different hunts for different age groups. Even though it was cold and cloudy they were really excited to go.

They each got their face painted. Mackenzie got an Easter egg and Logan got "Spiderman" (or a blue and red bug).
They had lots of games to play before the hunt started. Logan killed at the bean bag toss,
and Mackenzie tried her hand at potato sack races.
Then it was time for the hunt. While we waited behind the tape a golf cart drove around emptying eggs onto the field and the Easter Bunny made an appearance. Upon seeing this Logan wove in and out of legs and ran out on the field and started collecting eggs. Mackenzie and I ran after him and taught him about patience. :)
Then they were off....

Nobody wanted to meet the bunny any more they just wanted to check out their loot.
There was one more ride they wanted to go one so while I waited in line, they rolled down hills.
The good old cow ride.....
totally worth the wait.
Easter morning we put on our Sunday best and headed to church. (what a pretty place to take pictures, and unlike the day before it was a gorgeous day)

After church I put the ham in, we attempted to nap, then the Easter bunny paid us a visit.
Mackenzie ran over to show me everything that she found. She was SO excited!

Logan had some help sniffing out his treats.

Hope everyone had as good of an Easter as we did!

National Public Gardens Day

So the Botanical Garden had free admission on Saturday. It is close to down town, nestled right up to the old penitentiary (we agreed to tour that on a different day.)
Mackenzie had fun in the English Garden area.

As did Logan.

We spent some time swinging.
And just relaxing.
It was a lovely (free) day!

Phoenix Trip

Sunday morning we woke up and finished packing for our trip. Robert took us to the airport and lead us to security. Getting through security was the hardest part of the trip. I had to take Logan out of the stroller get my shoes and Mackenzie's shoes off, send our three tubs of stuff and the stroller through the x-ray, and that's all before we could walk through the x-ray. On the other side I tried to get Logan back in the stroller so I could carry everything to a spot to get situated and people were giving me dirty look and pushing around me! After that the plane ride was fine. We shared a couple of happy meals and drank our juice. Logan slept a little and Mackenzie watched Toy Story. On the descent into Phoenix Logan woke up crying about the time Mackenzie looked at me and said her ears hurt. Mom was able to get an escort pass so she met us at the gate. When we got to the car both children freaked out and had to be wrestled into car seats. We got to the house and I showed Mackenzie around, she especially liked the outside toys. Shortly after Grandma and Pokey arrived, Clark, and then Kate with Gabriel. Mackenzie was friendly with everyone and her and Gabriel became fast friends. Meanwhile Logan clung to me for dear life. We ate a delicious "Thanksgiving" dinner and birthday cupcakes!

Monday
We picked up Gabriel and headed for the train park. I didn't think she could do it but Mom managed to fit three car seats in her car.
My kids haven't ever played in sand before so that was the big hit, not the swings and slide.

When we were sufficiently dirty we went to get on the train.

The three of us shared this seat and they both loved going around and shouting "All Aboard!" We had a quick snack then rode on the merry-go-round. Mom stood between Gabriel and Mackenzie and I stood between Mackenzie and Logan.

We dropped Gabriel off after lunch and tried to have nap time. Then Kate and Gabriel came over after dinner. Logan was just about to head off to bed.

Tuesday
I wanted to go to the zoo because our zoo is small and doesn't have elephants. Clark came over before we left and brought the kids a golf game. Mackenzie figured out that if the ball was right in front of the mouth it was easier to hit it in. :)
We met Kate and Gabriel at the zoo. We saw the elephants and giraffes and some monkeys. Gabriel wanted to see the dragon but then said it wasn't what he thought, it was just a big lizard, and he wanted to see the Chinese one that shoots fire balls. We went to the petting zoo and Mackenzie brushed some goats.

It was hot out (well hot for us) and Mackenzie refused to ride in the stroller so we went home but we saw the parts of the zoo that we had wanted.

Wednesday
Mackenzie woke up and said, " I want to go to the park today." We met Grandparents, Susan and Steve, Kate and Gabriel, and Clark at Grandma's park. Again they played in the sand.

Kate hid eggs for the kids and Logan even let someone else hold him for a minute.

Thursday
On Thursday we picked up Gabriel and headed to the park, again. No sand so they were forced to play on the equipment. Gabriel helped push Mackenzie.
We fed the ducks as well.
Cousins got to act silly...
and serious on our last day.

Friday
We were off early in the morning. Mom was able to get another escort pass so security was much easier this time. We waited and watched. The plane ride was easier too. It wasn't a full flight so the guy next to us moved seats. Logan fell right asleep and lay on the extra seat for almost the whole flight.

We had a tone of fun and can't wait for our next trip.
